Our project for 2012
After two seasons sailing in Scandinavia (Sweden-Finland-Norway), and after a wet and windy summer in 2011 on the west coast of Ireland, we wanted to know what "sailing in the sun" meant. Our son persuaded us to visit the Azores archipelago.
Failing that, La Coruña...
Instead of La Coruña, we saw Port Tudy… But the sailing was nice!
The forecast was truly unpleasant and unstable… Yet, we had spent the last 10 days observing the succession of storms over the Bay of Biscay, telling ourselves that these weather conditions could only last for a while, and that for the May Day weekend, we would “obviously” have favorable conditions that would allow us to leave with our reinforcement crew (Patrick, our son, and Frank, our brother-in-law)… Well, no! The depressions continue to follow one another at a pace that does not leave us time to cross the Bay safely.
Attentive under spinnaker
Instead of heading to the far Southwest, we therefore headed towards… Groix on Friday, April 27th! To return on Saturday, because the weather on Sunday was not great.
In the end, beautiful weather, beautiful sea and beautiful colors, spinnaker up, beginning to get our sea legs: not so bad… But here we are back at our starting point, and the forecast is pessimistic for the next few days…
