Hi,
I am a proud owner of the RM 1200 "Salty Dog" based in Norway since this summer. We sail her double handed for 7 weeks durin Summer and will hopefully being able to try ski & sail next spring. As my french has room for improvement I will stick to english.
Two questions regarding the 1200:
First does anybody know wether the seacox are frost safe or not? I have done mine up with antifreeze but would still like to know beacuse we are heading up to the Lofoten next summer.
Second: Where do you order your sails? Mine are made in Norway and have seen better days. I thought there might be a sailmaker round La Rochelle that knows these boats and the needs they have.
All the best, thx for your answers!
Colin

Re: Sails and seacox
Hi Colin,
Welcome in the 1200 family ! But is it a 1200 or a 1270 ?
To answer to your questions,
By "seacox" do you mean :
through hull
or valve :
I guess, like ours, yours are RANDEX. You should contact them and describe the conditions you are going to meet.
https://www.randex.fr/randex/contact/contact.php
Concerning the sails, ours where cut by Sail Concept near Vannes. They have done quite a few sails for the 1200.

Re: Sails and seacox
Hi ! Thx for the welcome and the answer. I have a 1200, we had a look at the 1270, a lovely boat but just out of range. You have the RM 1200 number 15? Bluebird?
I meant the valve, but thx anyway. I will conact them and see what they say.
And thx for the sailmaker I will get a quote there.
Thx a million

Re: Sails and seacox
Hi Colin
We usually document the boat we own on the line "Bateau" in our profile.
Here is why Alain thought you had a 1270:
I encourage you to update yours.
In case of any question do not hesitate to ask.

Guy

Re: Sails and seacox
Hi,
If you keep your boat afloat in cold waters during the winter it is generally recommended to keep your valves at a 45-degrees angle if the boat is unattended. They should not be kept open neither closed.
All the best

Re: Sails and seacox
Hi Colin,
Ours is "Hatoup" number 13.
I couldn't find "Salty Dog" in our database, what was her previous name?
If you agree, we will update your file.

Re: Sails and seacox
Hi Colin.
My RM 1200 is Rocking Chair (n°2)
My sails have been cut by North Sails in Geneva (Switzerland) about 10 years ago and over 20,000 nm.
My Genoa is still in good condition, the mainsail shows the years...
A new one is under production by the same sailmaker.
Regards
Thierry
